Holistic Fire Safety was appointed to conduct comprehensive Fire Risk Assessments and passive fire protection works across Hull City Council’s high-rise and medium-rise residential properties.
Key Deliverables
Fire Risk Assessments & Compartmentation Surveys:
Completed 23 x Type 4 Fire Risk Assessments for all high-rise residential buildings.
Extended assessments to medium-rise general needs blocks, including sheltered and assisted living schemes.
Fire Safety Specification & Compliance Support:
Collaborated with design teams following RIBA stages to develop fire safety specification documents.
Provided Hull City Council with detailed compliance methods aligned with building regulations and test details from Protecta and other manufacturers.
Fire Door & Passive Fire Protection Works:
Installed certified communal and ancillary fire doorsets.
Remediated timber fire doorsets using BM Trada Q-Mark ART principles.
Conducted a pilot passive fire protection project on a high-rise building, implementing extensive fire stopping measures.
Pilot Project – Passive Fire Protection
Phase 1:
Fire stopping and sealing of service penetrations.
Restoration of compartment walls and floors to ensure effective fire separation.
Completed 915 individual fire stopping installations in one high-rise property.
Key areas included: service risers, communal areas, switch meter rooms, caretakers' offices, welfare and toilets, laundries, and storerooms.
Phase 2 (Upcoming):
Extending fire stopping works within residential dwellings.
Outcome & Impact
Enhanced fire safety compliance across Hull City Council’s housing stock.
Mitigated fire risks in high-rise and medium-rise buildings.
Established a structured compliance framework for planned fire safety improvements.
